Here's a simple recipe for making Chanachur (Spicy Indian Snack Mix) at home:
Ingredients:
Fried Gram Flour Noodles (Sev) – 1 cup
Peanuts – ½ cup
Roasted Chana Dal – ¼ cup
Cashew Nuts (optional) – ¼ cup
Curry Leaves – a handful
Raisins – 2 tbsp (optional)
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Red Chili Powder – ½ tsp (adjust to taste)
Salt – to taste
Sugar – 1 tsp
Oil – for frying
Instructions:
1. Fry the Peanuts and Cashews: Heat oil in a pan and deep-fry the peanuts and cashews until they turn golden brown. Remove and drain on a paper towel.
2. Fry Curry Leaves: In the same oil, fry the curry leaves until they become crisp. Be careful as they splutter. Remove and set aside.
3.Mix and Combine:
Take a large mixing bowl and add the fried sev, roasted chana dal, fried peanuts, cashews, raisins, and curry leaves.
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and sugar to the bowl.
Mix everything thoroughly so that the spices coat the mixture evenly.
4.Final Touch: Spread the mixture on a tray and let it cool completely. Store in an airtight container.
Serving:
Serve the Chanachur as a snack with tea puffed rice and enjoy it on its own!
Feel free to adjust the ingredients to your taste, adding more spices, fried onions, or other elements for your perfect mix!
